My quite simple and very first DIY- tutorial....

I hope you enjoy doing one collar by yourself and feel free to ask , if you have any questions.

All you need is :

- a hole punch

- felt

- a needle + wire + scissor

- some sort of pearl/button

- chain/ ribbon

+ you have to print out the collar-pattern from honestlywtf.com

Everything else is quite self-explaining, so if you look at the photographs and do exactly what my hands are up to , there is no reason why any of you should fail.

Being inspired by everything french lately , I decided to take my winter knitwear off in order to get this amazing lace shirt on , which I bought

at Free´p Star (it was about 1 euro) dans le Marais à Paris in june.

Also I have to add , that I was and still am quite proud of my eyelid line , which turned out almost perfect despite my usual tiredness on saturday mornings.

Maybe it is not usual to think about spring ,

if not even a single snowflake has been falling from the cloudy sky .

But how could (especially) I ever resist a collection based on lace-dresses ,

which is as romantic and lovely , as fresh and dynamic.

The paper cut-like fabrics , the stitched floral details ,

the combination of transparent fabric or lace and paper-thin leather

(comparable to Chloe Sevigny´s new collection for Opening Ceremony) ,

the hair, the jewelry , the puffed shoulders -

everything seems to be part of the most beautiful dream possible.

Somehow the twins managed it not only to enter the catwalk in Copenhagen with their colorful and with stories-telling graphics printed dresses but also to find the straight way into my heart. ( I´m currently discovering my romantic streak)

Back with a laptop full of new and amazing photos to share with you during the next week , with a brain totally filled with afterglows of the last 7 days and with a lot of new friends , because of who I definitely travel to Copenhagen as soon as possible again.
First of all , some random impressions of the first two days:

The opening show and in my opinion the best show held Anne Sofie Madsen on wednesday in the city hall which I easily reached by taking advantage of my rented bicycle. (only as a short tip for those of you who are planning to travel to Copenhagen or will ever go there , because renting a bicycle is definitely the cheapest and easiest way to get to know the city and reach every aim you want to reach)
Due to this mix of feminine softness , unbelievably amazing graphics and designs which strike by details as the perfectly chosen combination of materials like leather and transparent fabrics , it´s no surprise that me and my camera couldn´t stop taking photos of all those tall beauties with their skinny braids.

One of those places to be in Copenhagen: The Living Room - including this delicious smoothie below which helped me to bridge the breaks between the shows or which satisfied my thirst caused by endless stays in the changing rooms of all shops in Copenhagen.

Doesn´t Elle Ribera looks like one of those good fairies who used to dominate the bedtime-stories of our childhood?
>>I left my purple shampoo in a bit longer than usual to try out a lavender tint to my hair << This sentence really proved that she is one , no doubt. A joy and inspiration - spreading fashion-fairy (discovered that neologism is totally my cup of tea , because there are only a few words which can express what I´m meaning and if a few are not enough , why not "creating" some by your own?)
Elle is living in New York for one year now and studies fashion photography at The School of Visual Arts - sounds to me like the personification of my dreams and plans after my final exams!

Where do you take all this inspiration for your photos from?
I'm really inspired by memories from my childhood. My father was a gardener so I grew up playing in flower gardens at beautiful sea-side estates in Newport, RI. When my father passed away last year I received a lot of his old photo albums from the 70s. The ethereal fashion, and old Polaroid photos really inspired my work.
Is there a place you really want to travel to?
I would love to see Paris! Also, Sweden, Finland, or Norway.

2.What do you want to become after having finished your studies? Fashion photographer?
Hopefully a fashion photographer, or even an art or creative director. It's a really competitive business though. I plan on working really hard these next couple of years to build up a better portfolio and hopefully something good will come from that.

What are the main things, in your opinion, which let photos seem to be inspiring?
I find myself most inspired by photos that are unique. I love to see things I have never seen or dreamed of seeing before.

Powder blue and bubblegum pink

This weekend is going to be a powder blue, bubblegum pink one including milkshakes , frappucinos , strawberries and a lot of photos.(well , at least I hope so !) Even my newest DIY-project, a pair of feather earrings with a cute little bow-detail,( a result of trying to study for my latin test yesterday , which was , by the way , quite easy) is color-coordinated and the following inspiration photos reflect perfectly my weekend-vision.

On my way back to Regensburg , I made a stop in Munich to - I think everyone knows what I did - go shopping there and to have a look at Germany´s biggest fleamarket ( only one time per year at the Theresienwiese in Munich).
Well , I just thought that it was time to allow myself to buy some new stuff ( clothes , jewelry and so on) after having worked (really hard) for eight days !

So finally I bought this unbelievable awesome 3D-rose-sweater from American Apparel + a cropped , turquoise basic top (I´ll combinate it with my bubblegum-pink skirt from American Apparel ) + four rings from the fleamarket .
It´s just as simple as this sentence : shopping makes you ( especially me ) happier !

As soon as I can ( well that´s obviously after having finished school) I´ll move to a big big city to study there and it really has to be a city where I can go to an American Apparel - store whenever I´m feeling like doing this ;)
But for now , the only thing I can do is saying good night to you , my dear readers , saying hello to my latin presentation and cursing school !

I interviewed Shae Shae, who studies photography at the college of the visual arts in new york....

> 1. What inspires you?

At the minute a video by the Lumiere Brothers, The Serpentine Dance
(c.1899), it is insanely beautiful and was hand tinted at the end of
the 19th century. I am always inspired by old tin types,
daguerreotype and impressionist paintings...they really speak volumes
to me. Nature plays a big part in stirring me, as well as films set
in the 19th century. Music is probably one of the most powerful
inspirations to me, I hear a song and instantly there are images
running wild through my mind.

> 2. What are your aims?

I really aspire to make work that moves people. I hope that viewers
will get lost in this dreamy world that I hope to create for them via
photography or video (I'm starting to delve into video). I fully
realize that I am not there yet, but I really do hope that one day, I
will be able to accomplish that.
Quitting my former job of running Lullie Vintage was risky, because I
made a really good living and I never had to worry about bills. I
definitely stress sometimes, wondering if I will be able to make a
living off of my art. The whole "starving artist" thing does run
through my mind, maybe more than it should...I hope I can find people
willing to pay me to take photos at some point. :)

> 3.Why are you studying photography?

I had a thriving business, selling vintage online...but it was so
much work and I was so exhausted all the time. No exaggeration, I
was lucky if I got 2 days off a month because I sold such high
volumes and I really should have had a big team behind me, but I
didn't. I just got to the point where I was burt out, and then my
dog Crumbles died, and it was the worst thing that I have ever been
through. She meant so much to me, she was my little angel and her
death was sudden and unexpected. I had been holding myself together
for so long, even my mom said that she knew my breaking point was
coming. In truth, when Crumbles died, I just fell apart.

I left Los Angeles, the day after she died and I haven't been back
since. I was really sort of lost for about 6 months...and thank God,
my mom, dad and husband all walked me through that time period and
gave me the opportunity to not worry about bills, and to figure out
what I wanted to do in my life and what direction to take from that
point on. During those months, I discovered photography and I
decided to just go for it! It's an odd thing, starting something new
in your early thirties. I suppose it's the time in your life that
most people have started to see the fruits of their labor are paying
off and they are finally prospering. It was scary to quit Lullie and
walk down this path of the unknown, but I just threw caution to the
wind and did it!

> 4.What do you want to eypress with your photos?

When I listen to a great song I get this excited, creative burst of
energy...my mind starts to wander and I'm instantly lost in this
little dream world in my head. Music has this incredible ability to
intertwine memories from your past, stirring emotions both happy and
sad...and it has been a powerful source of comfort to people from the
beginning of time. I realize that, realistically I won't be able to
affect someone like that through a photo of mine, because I don't
personally think that an image has the same kind of power to elicit
such emotions as that of a great song. But, I guess I would like to
think I could harness that sort of feeling in some small way.

> 5.The favourite item of your closet?

My mom bought me this gorgeous white eyelet dress from around 1910
and I am so in love with it. I always feel like I am in Anne of
Green Gables when I wear it. I saw the dress in an antique shop and
my mom secretly bought it for me. My favorite pieces in my closet
are always from my mom because she knows me so well, and in my
opinion she has the MOST AMAZING taste.

> 6. What do you think about muses? Are they necessary?

Honestly, I think it depends on each person. I myself, don't need
"muses" because I am inspired by so much already in the world, like
music, nature, and history. But if I was forced to have one, I would
definitely choose my mom. Her creativity and vision, blow me away
all the time. I wouldn't be who I am without her, my dad and my
husband.

> 7. To which fashion show would you love to go most?

I'm not really interested in fashion shows or fashion week, but if I
had to choose, I think Alexander McQueen would have been a grand show
to see. His shows were more like "art" than anything else, in my
humble opinion.

> 8. How long have you already been blogging?

A little over a year

> 9. In which city would you love to live for one year?

I think it would be amazing to live in Reykjavik, Iceland, Scotland,
or Barcelona.

> 10. Who is you favourite photographer?

Darius Kinsey (1869-1945) was so awesome, his portraits of loggers in
the west absolutely blow me away. I adore Gertrude Kasebier, Lewis
Hine, Sarah moon and I also have many favorite photographs that no
one knows who took the shots. I am very moved by photographers of
eras that are long gone.
